A Patient Adjustment can be used to adjust/write off many circumstances including but not limited to charity, courtesy, hardship, small balance, discounts, etc. Patients who have an Encounter or an Item added to their account will be able to generate an adjustment. To create a Patient Adjustment, please use the following steps:
1. Go to the patient's Financials and select the New Transaction dropdown and click on Patient Adjustment.
2. Enter the information on the screen, including the Amount and the Reason. It is highly recommended that you use the Note feature to describe your adjustment.
3. Once your information has been entered, you can search for your Encounter and/or Item in the drop down menu, click Distribute to allocate the money entered in Amount, and Click on Post to post it to the financials.
Adjustments can now be seen in the patient Financials and on the Adjustments Report.
