When an ERA comes into the system, it will automatically come into the ERA section on the left-hand side of the practice management system. Our enrollment team will work to get you enrolled with the payers listed on the office's original enrollment forms. If you would like to enroll for ERAs with additional payers, simply email enrollment@ezderm.com with the Payer ID and we will be happy to get the process started.
TO POST AN ERA:
Step 1: Click on the ERA to open it.
Step 2: You can review the details of the ERA and how the claims were adjudicated on this screen or you can click Generate ERA Preview > Preview ERA in the upper right-hand corner to view and download the ERA as a PDF.
Step 3: Click post in the bottom right-hand corner to post this ERA for all patients listed in the ERA. When you post an ERA, the statuses of the claims in that ERA will be updated automatically based on the following criteria:
- Pending Insurance: There is a remaining balance on the claim, the patient has secondary/tertiary insurance, and the primary already forwarded the claim to the secondary/tertiary.
- Ready for Electronic Submission: There is a remaining balance on the claim, the patient has secondary/tertiary insurance, the primary has not forwarded the claim to the secondary/tertiary, the secondary/tertiary insurance has a payer ID in the system.
- Ready to Print: There is a remaining balance on the claim, the patient has secondary/tertiary insurance, the primary has not forwarded the claim to the secondary/tertiary, the secondary/tertiary insurance does not have a payer ID in the system.
- Ready for Patient: There is a remaining balance on the claim and the patient does not have any secondary/tertiary insurance.
- Complete: There is no remaining balance on the claim.
Step 4: For claims now Ready for Patient, click on a claim to post unapplied patient payments (like copays) that were collected on the date of service or to leave a Statement Note that will display on any statements issued to the patient for their balance. Payments listed in the "Patient Unapplied Payments" section are payments that the office linked to the Date of Service. These payments can be applied to the balance by clicking the Auto-Post button.
Tips:
- Click on the patient's name in the "Payment Details" section at the top to go directly to the patient's chart.
- Click on the Claim Number in the "Payment Details section at the top to go into the claim itself.
- Use the Claim Note field to view or leave any internal notes regarding the claim.
- You can add a patient adjustment in the Adjustments section. Click "Settle" to automatically create an adjustment for the remaining balance.
