How to Print Paper Claims
When an encounter is posted, the system will create a claim and automatically mark it "Ready to Print" if that insurance company does not have a payer ID in the system. To print paper claims:
Step 1: Filter for claims with the status "Ready to Print"
Step 2: Select one, a few, or all claims using the checkboxes in the first column
Step 3: Click the blue "Print Claims" button in the upper left
Step 4: Select whether you want to print the claims onto a blank CMS 1500 form or onto plain paper(EZDERM will draw the lines of the CMS 1500 form for you.
Step 5: Select whether you want to Log the claim or not, thus changing the claim status to "Pending Insurance" and making a record in the system that the claim was sent. If you wish to leave this claim Ready to Print, just click Do Not Log. You can use the Claim Log within a claim to verify when the claim was printed.
Step 6: Click the blue Print button.
Step 7: The claims will download as a PDF to your computer, so open and print the file.
Addressing Errors
The system does some initial scrubbing of claims, so you may encounter errors when you try to print claims. This is simply the system telling you that some pertinent information is missing or that something must be corrected before the claim is printed.
For example, if you receive the error message "Insurance company address information is missing," it means that a claims mailing address has not been entered for this payer in your Private Insurance list. To address this error, go into your private insurance list and add a mailing address for this payer. You may then need to update the patient's Insurance Profile and the insurance profile on the claim itself.
Once the information is corrected, the claim should be validated (re-scrubbed) before trying to submit again.
Validating Claims
To validate claims, select the claims to be re-scrubbed and use the blue tab with the drop down arrow at the top of the screen to access additional actions. Select Validate Claims to switch the action button. Now, click the blue Validate Claims button.
