Compounded Medications

Compounded medications cannot currently be selected in the SureScripts database. To order a compounded medication you can:

1. Create a shorthand with the details of the prescription and use that shorthand to populate the prescription details in the A&P section of your note. You can then write a paper prescription for the patient and take a photo of the paper prescription for their chart.

OR

2. Order just one component of the compounded medication via the SureScripts database and in the Note to Pharmacist field leave instructions for how the pharmacist should compound the medication. You should make sure this method of documentation is acceptable with the pharmacy or pharmacist.
