How do I prescribe a medication as part of my Assessment and Plan?
1. You will first need to access the Rx (Medications) screen in one of the following two ways:
a) Click the Rx bowl icon in the right-hand sidebar of the Progress Note
b) From within the Physical Exam, tap on the Rx icon in the bottom toolbar.
2. You will then be brought to the Suggested medications tab of the Rx screen. This will list any medications that the provider has included in their treatment plan settings for any plans that were associated with the current patient.
3. Swipe from right to left over the medication you want to prescribe and tap Prescribe to add that prescription into your Assessment and Plan. Once you have prescribed a medication, it can be found in the Prescribed tab.
4. If a medication is not in the Suggested tab, you can click the green plus sign in the upper right-hand corner to write a prescription from scratch or you can click the clock icon in the upper left-hand corner to continue a medication from the patient's prescription history.
How do I make changes to the prescription details?
1. Once a medication appears on the Prescribed tab of the Rx screen, you can make any changes to that prescription's details by tapping on the prescription you want to update and then taping into the field(s) you wish to change.
2. You can swipe from right to left on a Prescribed medication to Unprescribe it and remove it from the Assessment and Plan.
3. These changes will only apply to this patient and this visit. If you would like changes made to the Suggested prescriptions to save time when prescribing, the provider can change those details in their Treatment Plan settings, under the Therapies section.
How do I send prescriptions to the pharmacy?
1. Once the medications have been added to the Prescribed tab of the Rx screen, you will be able to print or ePrescribe those medications by tapping Rx Order in the upper right-hand corner of the Progress Note.
2. Select the pharmacy and medications you want to send. If there is not a pharmacy listed in the patient's favorites, you can search for a pharmacy to send this order to.
3. Once the pharmacy and medications have been selected, tap Preview in the upper left-hand corner to review the prescription(s).
4. Tap the red share button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and scroll until you see Send eRx. Alternatively, you can click Print if you would like to print the prescription out for the patient.
5. Once you tap Send eRx, you can click Rx Order in the upper left to go back to the order screen where you will now see confirmation that the prescription was sent, when it was sent, and which pharmacy it was sent to. You should make sure that the prescription has the Sent message next to it.
Note: If you open the Rx Order screen and you do not see the Sent confirmation message, the prescription was not sent to the pharmacy. You can still select the medication and send it at a later date, even if the note is Signed Off.
