If you perform destruction of genital warts (condyloma acuminatum) in the office, you will need correct documentation for the coding to generate properly.
In order to generate correct coding for this type of destruction, you must first be sure that you are using the correct plan type. You will want to make sure that the plan type you are using is "Destruction of Anogenital Lesions," as seen in the example below:
If you use the correct treatment plan, but do not use the correct body map, the system will not generate the correct coding. If you use the regular body map and mark the treated lesion in the genital region, the system will give the location a generic name of "Male Genitalia or Female Genitalia" and will not give you the correct coding. If the assessment and plan of your note has this generic name, you have used the incorrect body map:
You can access the genital body map by clicking on the genital icon at the bottom of the sidebar on the left. Once on this body map, you can mark the lesions treated:
Using the correct treatment plan and the correct body map will result in the correct coding:
It should also be noted that the Destruction of Anogenital lesions code, is only for lesions directly on genitals. If the lesions have spread to the inguinal crease or the upper thigh, this does not constitute this code and a regular destruction plan should be used:
