Documenting an ED&C

To document an ED&C that will generate correct coding for billing, you will need to utilize the new procedure segment called "Post Curettage Dimension(s)".  You can add this segment to your existing ED&C treatment plans by going to the procedure summary > add procedure segments > and add the post curettage dimension(s) segment.  Or you can pull the updated ED&C treatment plans into your account from the public plans.

Once you have selected the treatment plan in your note > you will click on the scalpel icon on the selection wheel and click on your procedure.

When you click into the procedure you will have the option to enter 3 different dimensions:  Initial, Post Curettage, and Postoperative.  The CPT code for this procedure will be generated based on the size entered into the Post Curettage Dimension(s) field.

Please note that per coding guidelines, the ED&C Post Curettage Dimension is the correct measurement to use for coding.  If you leave this field blank, the system will generate the smallest size destruction code by default.
