First, apply the desired biopsy treatment plan to the body map. You will know the procedure has been applied when you see the procedure tag (ex. Bx BCC) instead of the anatomical location (ex. Left Anterior Forearm - Proximal). Note: the treatment plan must contain the Procedure Segment "Instructions to Pathologist" in order to generate any label(s) and to place an order in the Performed folder of the Inbox for tracking. Tap the red Print icon in the bottom toolbar of the Physical Exam screen. You will then have the option to print labels either per Location or per Procedure.
Tap the desired locations or procedures (a red checkmark will appear to the right of the screen indicating your selection(s)). Note: If you use the locations option instead of the procedures option, the specimens will not be labeled A, B, C, etc. and the biopsy requisition number will not appear on the label(s). This option is more geared towards printing culture labels.
Once ready, tap the Done button in the top right of the screen to get a preview of the label and select which printer you want to send the label(s) to. Lastly, tap the red Print button to send the job to the printer.
You also have the ability to print labels from within the Progress Note screen by tapping the printer icon in the right-hand sidebar. If you use this method, biopsy labels will be printed for all biopsies performed, you do not have the option to print just specific procedure/location labels.
Note: If you performed multiple biopsies you will not see a preview of the labels prior to printing but all labels will print when you press the Print button.
See our Hardware and Equipment Recommendations article for a recommended label printer model and label size.
