iPads: All staff members who will be documenting on a patient within the EHR should have an iPad.
If your front desk will be using EZ CHECK-IN, they should have at least two or three at the front. The exact number depends on the volume of patients you will be seeing each day.
The size of the iPad depends on personal preference. Some MAs prefer the iPad mini, as it is easier to put in their pouch, whereas providers may prefer an iPad Pro that they can hook up to a Bluetooth keyboard and mimic a laptop.
Pro Tip:
-
No size or storage requirements for Apple hardware since EZDERM is a cloud-based software.
-
If purchasing an older iPad model, verify it is compatible with current app standards.
-
Apple has Business Financing options, such as leasing gear and services. Learn more here.

Optional Accessories: Stylus, Bluetooth Keyboards, Cases, Dermatoscopic Cases
Desktop Computers: The Practice Management system can be accessed from any brand computer that has an internet connection. The number of computers depends on how many staff members you have that will need access to the PMS.
Pro Tip:
- EZDERM can be accessed by going to www.ezderm.com.
- You can access the PMS from a Windows or Apple Device
- Google Chrome is the recommended web browser
- Internet Explorer is not supported
Wi-Fi and Back-Up Hotspot: A strong Wi-Fi network is key! We recommend a download speed of at least 25 Mbps and an upload speed of at least 15 Mbps. As EZDERM is cloud-based, a strong Wi-Fi network will ensure no lag time when documenting or uploading photos.
Pro Tip:
- We recommend setting up a hotspot or purchasing an iPad with cellular data in case of emergency.
Google Wi-Fi: Create a mesh network in your office to increase speed strength and signal reliability with Google Wi-Fi.
Credit Card Processor: EZDERM is integrated with Square for payment processing.
Pro Tips:
-
The Square Terminal integrates with the PMS.
-
The Square Chip Reader integrates with the EHR.
-
Other Square hardware is not compatible with EZDERM.
Printers and Scanners: As AirPrint is available from the EHR (iPad), we recommend getting a printer with wireless printing capabilities. This is required for printing from the iPad.
List of AirPrint-enabled printers can be found here.
-
Printers: AirPrint or Wi-Fi-enabled printers are recommended if you would like to print from the EHR. The make and model are user preferences.
Disclaimer: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283FDW and HP LaserJet Pro M404-M405 Series are not compatible with EZDERM software. -
Label Printers: To print labels from the EHR you will require a Brother Label Printer. Accepted models: QL-820NWB, QL-720NW, QL-810W
-
Scanners: We recommend having at least one scanner in the office. The make and model are user preferences.
We recommend having at least one scanner in the office that is hooked up to a computer from which your staff can access the PM system to import documents to the patient’s chart. If you think this scanner will be in high demand, consider having more than one in the office.
Label Printers: Our system automatically generates specimen labels that can be printed out either right in the room or at a central nursing station. The number of label printers you purchase depends on how many printing stations you would like. Paper label rolls need to be purchased as well (not included with printer).
