Macroscopic (Gross) Codes
Measures in description are generated dynamically, by the following rules:
C4 for “cyst measuring 4 cm in greatest dimension; transverse sections submitted”
C.3 for “cyst measuring 0.3 cm in greatest dimension; transverse sections submitted”
2C.1 for “two cysts measuring 0.1 cm in greatest dimension; transverse sections submitted”
- Shorthands are not case sensitive, so you will get the same text if you use C.3 or c.3
- From the gross editor, you just need to enter the gross shorthand and press the Return or
Space button on the keyboard in order to generate an appropriate gross description
- From the pathology shorthand search screen, you use the gross shorthands with prefix “/“ (e.g. “/2c.1”) and Return button on the keyboard
- Below are also some examples how you can combine gross codes (all codes can be combined). For shorthand “P.1,I.5” you should use Tab key (iPad pro keyboard) instead of Comma

Hello, where and how I can add more shorthands?
Thank you
Dagmar
You can add shorthands in the EHR application by going to Settings > My Profile > Pathology Shorthands. Please see our Pathology Shorthands video for a full explanation on how to add these.
